1310 Ottawa CIWW Jeff Bannister 1310-News Oldies-1310 W-1310

What’s the story with Ottawa’s 1310 AM? Well, it was a music station for much of it’s life, the last music format being Oldies. Heard here in 1987, it is a Gold-Based contemporary music station, playing mostly 70s music but pulling from the 60s and the 80s, as best we can tell. Today, the station is an All-News outlet.

This aircheck begins shortly before the 9 PM hour, then goes into a Newscast (scoped), then into a love songs dedication show called “The Power of Love”. Jeff Bannister is very conversational and friendly, and takes callers with their love song requests.

  1. I must say this aircheck was the most educational one I’ve heard thus far. Jeff Bannister said Mungo Jerry’s “In the Summertime” was first heard in ’67. However, it didn’t hit it big until 1970.

    1. So, I’m not the only one who caught that. That is an interesting tidbit which I guess at this point I need to do some basic research. Like you, Gary, I always assumed it was released in 1970.
