Randy Evans is offbeat, funny and fast – in fact, this morning show is as good as any we’ve posted on this site. Greg Marshack is the newsman (listen closely just after the 8 minute mark or you’ll miss Evans mentioning his name). Other voices include Gary Daniels and Marie McAllister.
This whole show runs lightning fast, is as provocative as many of today’s FM morning shows… Once you get to listening for a while, you’ll look forward to each segment of the “Maxwell House Screen Test”. It’s hilarious! Each segment ends with the ONE KJRB shotgun jingle.
Among the alumni at KJRB over the years, Larry Lujack (before going to Chicago, WLS and WCFL), Norm Gregory, Suds Coleman, Rick Rydell and some guy named Steve West (Just how many of ‘us’ are there floating around?).
A big thanks to Contributor Tom Lacko who mastered this and sent it in on CD!!
Here's some 1969 Atlanta gold! Audio quality is better than FM here on a tape provided to us by Contributor Karl Philips. This is from the original master REEL, which I encoded using a loaned Wollensack courtesy of Contributor and site friend Jack Parnell. Scoped as always, WQXI is sporting…
If its been 33 years since you heard this, you're not alone and in good company! KULF sounds Bigtime, running a full service AM format and playing all the hits, minus the real hard rock stuff. This sounds NICE! And yes, it would have been nicer had this been a…

Randy Evans (KPUG-AM Bellingham/KJRB-AM Spokane)is Ichabod Caine, who starred at KJR Seattle and country KMPS-FM Seattle for three decades. Gregg Hersholt is the news anchor – he moved to KJR Seattle as well, then spent many years anchoring at KIRO-AM Seattle. He is now morning anchor at Seattle News/Talk KOMO AM-FM.
Just a heads up… that “some guy named Steve West” you refer to at KJRB is actually named Steve West and is from my home town area… Hoquiam, Washington.
Steve programmed KJR Seattle to the top, was GM of KISW Seattle as well as KXRX Seattle.
Besides all of that, he’s just a great guy and smart broadcaster and marketer.
