This begins a few minutes before 2 pm and you hear WROR‘s normal Classic Hits format for a couple of songs – at least you get an idea what it was like with the song titles and station imaging. At about a minute into this scoped aircheck, you hear the first Legal ID to mention the Rock Radio Reunion. The first Rock Jock to take the mic for this weekend event was Tai, a longtime voice on the old 104.1 WBCN.

This is a shortened aircheck, because the original recording went for about 30 minutes, then stops and picks up for Tai’s last few breaks just before 5pm. On the original cassette, provided by Contributor Jeff Lehman, you hear both this segment with Tai, and then immediately into the 2nd Rock Jock for this event, another WBCN legend, Charles Laquidera. We’ve separated these two jocks into separate airchecks for presentation.

Among the Rock DeeJays of Boston radio, Mark Parenteau, Harvey Wharfield (WVBF, WCOZ, WAAF) and others took to the WROR microphones, telling stories of what it was like to be an album rock jock in the 60s, 70s and 1980s.  Some, like Charles Laquidera, endured right up till his retirement in 1999, and had lots of memories that spanned the time right up until Reunion Day on WROR. As for WBCN, the station was taken off the air several years later (in 2009) to make room for WBMX, which moved down the aisle from 98.5  WBMX had to move because CBS corporate started a new sports station there.  98.5 The Sports Hub (WBZ-FM).  That’s a whole story by itself that we’ll tell another time.

Runs approximately 8 minutes.
