WNEW-FM 102.7 New York – 77 WABC Tribute Show – May 26 1982 – Parts 1 & 2
May 10, 1982, was the day the music died. That was when Musicradio 77 WABC dropped it’s music format, and moved to a talk radio format. A couple of weeks later, WNEW-FM aired a two hour tribute to WABC.
It featured many former WABC air personalities, including Cousin Brucie, Bob Lewis, Herb Oscar Anderson, Chuck Leonard, and WNEW-FM’s own Scott Muni. You’ll also hear long time WABC Program Director, Rick Sklar, with some behind the scenes insight into the station. It was a touching tribute for one radio station to do for another. -Ellis
