Houston’s 79 KULF had a 12 year run as an Adult Contemporary station, from 1970, until 1982. At one point, it was the home to the long running Stevens & Pruett morning show. Other broadcasting notables that graced the KULF microphones include Dave Hull, Phil Konstantin, Mike Mann, Gary Harmon, Hank Moore, Jim Shannon, and the voice featured on this aircheck, Andy Barber. In June 1982, Gannett Publishing bought the station, announced to the employees that everyone was fired, and relaunched the station as top 40 station 79Q KKBQ. As of February 2020, Andy is still on air, hosting morning drive at Tulsa’s KBEZ, 92.9 The Drive.
