Curator’s Notes:
Special thanks to Mark Kattoura for the corrected information.
This monaural recording came in on reel, as most of the Bill Bailey airchecks we received from Sandy Bailey did. Here, Bailey sounds GREAT doing mornings. This is a ‘straight’ morning show, with a few sound effects, a few features and mostly music. No obnoxious morning show team. I love “All Gone Plant”! Can you relate?… shortly after this starts.
Production wise, this required a bit of snip and cut and merge, but only enough (a few seconds worth each) to remove that annoying ‘wwoooop!’ when a reel to reel machine shuts off and on when the board mic button is pressed. NO noise reduction was needed in this. This is in mono, because we don’t have a stereo deck here, just an old Panasonic “Sound Monitor System” reel to reel machine straight out of the early 1960s. Hey, we use whatever we can find!
Year should be 1982 given the song set.
Thank you for posting these older Airchecks of south Fla stations.
Matter of fact we could probably dump a heap of Airchecksfrom south Fla stations into your lap, but the only people whom would remember them or appreciate their impact would be South Floridians that grew up listening to them
Respectfully speaking
Well, Ron, I know a ton of people who would remember and enjoy them if you’re willing to share. Don’t forget, South Florida is home to a lot of northerners in the Winter!
Yes. I commented earlier on that Aircheck, but my post was not approved. 1982-1983, partly because i myself grew up in south Fla.
I’m not sure what happened. Think I hit delete by mistake. My bad. -West
No Worries Steve 🙂
