96.5 Rochester WCMF Chuck Ingersoll

New Contributor Chuck Ingersoll describes this first aircheck of 96.5 WCMF Rochester:

It was getting near the end for underground album radio, but in 1977, the jocks at WCMF, Rochester still got to select and program their own music and shows. It was loose, it was informal, it was fun, and it made a good deal of money for a period of time. This summer aircheck includes newsman Blaine Schwartz, who later worked in radio in Cleveland at WMMS and is now an attorney in Buffalo, NY.

Chuck hosted the morning show on ‘CMF from 1977 through early 1980, serving at PD for awhile, before moving on to The “New” WSAY and doing middays and PD in 1981. After that experience, he realized that while the advertising business (where he’d started out of college) was wacky, it wasn’t quite as crazy and radio, so he went on to work as a writer and creative director at Rochester agencies and own his own ad agency, Ingersoll et al, for 10 years. Today he keeps his hand and mouth in by doing voiceovers for training and commercials (www.hearchucknow.com), as well as naming and branding (www.brandsandtags.com), along with a weekly jazz show called The Soul Jazz Spectrum on Jazz 90.1/WGMC in Rochester.
