What did a complete broadcast day sound like in March, 1973? WLS is sporting the “Rock of Chicago” jingles – Gwinsounds cuts, if I recall. Not much in the way of commercials, but this was tightly scoped and all about the air talent.

This is most definitely when the jocks mattered! Music is solidly 1973 fare. Listen for a promo for “Americana Panorama”, another staple of John Records Landecker, although it was a bit too early for “Boogie Check.”

could not wait for sunset in upstate NY…thats when the skywave hit and all the big top 40 giants from the great lakes region came booming in…WKBW, CKLW, WGAR all great stations…but the WCFL vs. WLS war blew me away…radio could not have gotten any better than that!
Jodie Lyons. Lyons did the first Solid Rock package for PAMS and got LS to pick up a custom package for his indie company. WCFL beat LS for the only time, the PD got fired and Tommy Edwards put PAMS jingles back in (although still cuts from WLS ’70 and the “Fantasy” promotion cut–it wasn’t until late in ’74 after the experiment with Thunder (or Tanner recorded in Dallas instead of Memphis) that LS returned to PAMS for a new package).
Van Dyke is incredible probably WLS at its best but we’re is Lujack?
