From Robyn Watts, here’s Ron Brittain on WTMX Chicago. The scoped music played in this exhibit shows a very laid back station, back in the days when AC REALLY meant soft, adult oriented hits.
Listen all the way through on this one, and see if you can guess the ‘Secret Sound’.
Actually, Ron Brittain was doing afternoons on this aircheck. The station became 101.9 The Mix earlier in 1992 in a attempt to solifiy their dial position on the dial (before then they were known as Mix 102).

Affirmative. As I recall, King B had just defected from Magic (live on the air) to come work at WTMX. By the sounds of the tape (and the cue that fall had just started), this would have been early on in his tenure – (Sept of 1992) the show loosened up quite a bit and became much more “Ron” like… very playful… lots of goofin’ around. By October Ron was having a blast. We stayed on afternoons until Winter of ’93, and moved to mornings. I have some whopper King B moments someplace… I’ll share when I find them.
