900 Nashua, 1250 Manchester, WGAM, WGHM

I just started a new version of “The Time Machine” only two weeks prior to this aircheck on WGAM. The station is jockless the rest of the time and maintains a traditional Oldies format. Songs of the 1960s through the early 1980s.

The WGAM call letters were once in use in Greenfield, Massachusetts, in the period immediately following the demise of the former 1520 WPOE, sometime in the mid-1980s. WGAM there stood for “Greenfield And Montague”. In its current incarnation, AM 900 was once WOTW, a contemporary music station in Nashua, that flipped to Christian preaching by the mid 1980s. AM 1250 was once WKBR, a highly rated Top 40 station in the 60s and 1970s. Both stations, just prior to this current format, were sports formatted ESPN Radio outlets.

As the contributor of this aircheck, and the jock on it, I can tell you that I am friends with the programmer, Gary James. I’ve no idea if there’s a plan in place to have tracked programs during the week, a news department or much else. But the show I started, “The Time Machine” was done at the request of Gary James, who was one of my weeknight jocks on the WBLQ Time Machine in 2022. He asked me to do a version of it on his station, which I obliged. The show is streamed from the Airchexx / HitOldies studios direct to the WGAMtransmitters via the station automation. If there is a plan in place for live or tracked shows outside of the TM, well, this is a start.

I’m really just starting out with this show, and not sure how it’s gonna evolve, so if you’re in the Nashua/Manchester area listening to this on the AM signals or 103.5 FM, you’ll probably notice things slowly changing and evolving over time.
