Not much to say about this just over 5 minute scope. Apparently recorded by someone putting a microphone in front of an FM radio speaker, this aircheck shows off Magic 106 and it’s incredibly stable format on the air since 1981. Much less talk and more music every time you listen is the station’s slogan at this point in time. While WMJX has picked up the tempo in recent years, it’s still considered “Soft Rock” – even though very few stations play as much sleepy music as this station did two decades ago.
The jock is Audrey Constant, whom we haven’t featured before. This was recorded in the overnight hours between 2:54 and 3:39 AM just hours before a big snowstorm hit the city.

"How 'bout some concert tickets, eh... Caller number NINE..." You'll love this rather short, but high-energy aircheck of Mike Adams on WRKO during Boston's Bicentennail celebration in the Summer of 1976! One can't help but be swept up in the excitement heard on the air on RKO during this time…

Thanks to whoever recorded this and posted it! Sounds like the tape is dragging a bit as the pitch sounds a bit lower than usual. Magic was a great station to work for and had the best P.D. and Assistant P.D. EVER: Don Kelley and Candy O’Terry. -Audrey
The music doesn’t sound particularly “sleepy” in this air check….probably the same as most of the other big AC’s at the time…WLTW, KOST, etc.
