WCBS-FM 101 New York – Bob Lewis – Rock Format – 1970

On July 4 1972, WCBS-FM flipped to all Oldies. The move was inspired by it’s sister station, 98 WCAU-FM Philadelphia, which had flipped to oldies one years earlier. The station played 50s & 60s, with some current songs thrown in. But before the Oldies music, WCBS-FM had a Freeform Rock fromat, from 1968 to 1972.

Bob Lewis, recently on air at WABC, and WABC-FM, joined WCBS-FM for it’s new rock format. This aircheck features Bob-A-Loo, during the CBS-FM Rock Days. -Ellis
