WQHT Hot 103 launched in 1986 on 103.5 FM when Top 40 WAPP (Adult Oriented Rock format) went off the air after trying to compete with WHTZ & WPLJ. Hot 103, lasted onthe 103.5 frequency for 2 years, until summer of 1988, when 97.1 WYNY & WQHT flipped frequencies, & WQHT became Hot 97. WQHT was the station to go to for Latin Freestyle , Dance, Rhythmic AC & CHR, Hot mixes, and the hits as well. This aircheck features “Fast” Freddie Colon, who was a staple on the original Hot 97.
