Airchexx Where Classic Radio Lives

A crystal clear recording is what we’re treated to on the old Soft Rock station at 99.5 FM. One would think that since 1997 was just yesterday (wasn’t it?) that one of the old WGAY logos would be out there somewhere, but multiple searches in different engines come up with the current CHR station, “Hot 99.5” WIHT.

WGAY would stick with it’s Soft Rock format until 1999, when it became WJMO.

Technically there’s only one spring in Silver Spring so it should be Silver Spring, not Silver Springs.

Wow…how NOT to do a nighttime show.

they keep referring to “our nightly feature”? is it a show, or a “feature”? Just what I want to turn on at night…a “nightly feature”.

    No live talent at all.

“Relaxing Romance” is a pretty crappy title.

This is older than 1997. The station had changed its name to Bright 99.5 by 1996 and they played more contemporary songs. This is what the format was in the late 80s and early 90s.

Connie B. Gay must be laying in his grave with his hands over his face. What a waste of the 99.5 FM frequency in DC.

I used to listen to this at night when I was a kid in 96-97. Would love to get their playlist (they kind of cycled through the same 30-40 songs if I remember right) and make a mix tape of it; anyone know where that might be archived?
