From a tape (yep, a cassette!) given to me by the one and only Rich Brother Robbin (at left) back around 2005 or so while we were working in the same Entercom group of stations, this is an outstanding copy of something I had to literally BEG the famous KCBQ and (at the time we worked together) Classic Hits “Star 98.1” Memphis Program Director for a copy of. Rich was afraid of losing anything in his vast collection of tapes from the decades he has been in the radio business, so I had to promise to return it – which I did the following week.

Shotgun Tom Kelly (right) is a name known well in Southern California. Shotgun Tom worked mainly in San Diego, but also spent some time in Los Aneles. The aircheck you’re going to hear here is quite typical of how he sounded at any given day at KCBQ. Unsuprisingly, Tom Kelly was also on Bobby Rich’sKFMB “B-100”and sounded fantastic!
