By 1985, Boston had become a very competitive radio market. There were FOUR different CHR (Contemporary Hit Radio) stations in Beantown. Kiss 108, WXKS-FM was Top 40, with a Rhythmic lean. WROR 98.5 was a more Adult oriented CHR. There was the new WZOU 94.5, a mainstream straight ahead CHR. And finally, there was HitRadio 103 WHTT. It was a tightly formatted, current based CHR. By 1985 WHTT was just past it’s peak, as all of the competition was taking it’s toll. All this competition made for some very exciting radio. At this point in 1985, WHTT was about a year from flipping to Oldies. This aircheck features Mark Sebastian on air, in WHTT’s final year.
